Shaking the cam and then adding choppy 1-sec scenes is a sign of a director who needs this sham to cover up his inability to convey action or a seamless story to a screen. Really a weak-ass approach.
Hear hear. They need to recut the damn film. I can tolerate the shaky cam, but having those spasmic 1 sec cuts was way too much for me to take. Looks like Anderson had the full creative control of the movie. Studio heads didn’t care as long as the movie brought the box office numbers, and it did!
how is realism having like seconds from a fight scene? You can't see shit.
Paul W.S. Anderson is the one to blame, he told the editor he wanted the movie to feel like rushing because Alice was in rush in time to save the world but dammit, the whole thing turned messy.
There are so many scenes Claire is talking and the camera is behind her, we see her shadow or her back and she still talking, I'm like can't they even focus on the poor actress? it feels like they didn't want her to outshine Milla.
Watching it here again after so many years since its release. And while I still have some distain left from the first semi-viewing, watching it now with a new approach while stoned has given me a new perspective and some actual enjoyment this time.
