In RE3 Alice is told a cure can be manufactured.. and she does nothing about it.
Are we supposed to presume her amnesia came back and she forgot about it??????
This is way bigger of a plot hole than where is Chris or whatever.
In this movie we learn that there always was an anti-virus, but it's ok if the White Queen didn't know about it, I don't have a problem with that. Then she's told there's a cure and Alice is like "wow".
Ummmmmmmmm Alice that was your exact same reaction when the White Queen talked about it. Have you forgotten??? And what did you do with that piece of information? Precisely nothing, no?
Observe:
RE3:
- You mean this could all end? - Correct.
RE6:
- All this could end? - Precisely.
Holly deja vu Batman! RE6 is almost a retake on RE3, since Anderson's idea with RE3 was to "come full circle" and had a return to the Hive (of sorts) and the laser room and a final fight with Isaacs, and his ideas for RE6 were the same.
Not that I'm that mad with RE6 not addressing White Queen's cure. That was the responsibility of RE4! How can you end one movie by saying a cure can be made and the next movie doesn't address whether it was made or not and why?

Yeah because White Queen mentioned Red Queen as "my sister computer". As you said White Queen and Cure plot is huge plot hole. But you know there was an idea that Extinction could be final film so cure and Alice clones were put there as setting the ending. When second trilogy started with Afterlife it was all throw out.
I mean that's obvious, but it's ok. What's not ok is that Alice never said something like "Too bad the cure didn't work." or "Too bad the White Queen got destroyed during the fight with Isaacs." or "Too bad the cure is ineffective." or.. anything.
The existence of a cure is not small news.. it's gigantic. One would think Alice would do everything in her power to make it happen; like she did in the final movie.
The way the continuity is like now, it's like after the third movie ended Alice was like "Cure, lulz, who cares, *beep* that. I like it like that. It lets me kill zombiezzzzzzzz" or "Um.... am I forgetting something that little girl told me before I fought Isaacs? Hm.. Nah.. I don't think so. Well, off to Japan it is!"
There are three different anti-viruses in this franchise.
* In the first two films, you have the blue anti-virus. If you were recently bitten, you can get cured. If you paid attention to the Rain aspect of the first movie, the Red Queen wouldn't allow Alice to take that risk of using the anti-virus on her because she was too far gone. If it was "official" it should've cured her.
So that wasn't the actual "anti-virus" it was just temporary (if you bond with the T-Virus like Angela or Alice) and if you were too far gone, it had no effect.
* By the third movie, they were looking for a cure based on Alice's blood. They needed her blood. If you pay attention to the cloned Isaac's, he was trying to teach zombies cognitive skills after injecting the anti-virus in them. But it didn't work. They were too far gone. I'm not even 100% sure what kind of an anti-virus they were trying to go for, since a zombie can't really be "cured" in a sense. They are rotten and a corpse. Unless they were hinting at the Las Plagas virus where you can control them, like in Resident Evil 4 [the game].
* By the 6th movie, they emphasize "airborne." Umbrella had this cure all along, knowing it would cure everything by breathing it in. They kept it hidden/secret, because they wanted the world to end. Why would they unleash that secret? This is not the same anti-virus as the first two films, because unlike the injection of the skin cells, you have to breathe it in.
Hope that helps. But yet again, maybe we're giving Paul too much credit. But that's how I see it.
In the third film, Isaacs was working on something that could bring the zombies above their baser instincts. The zombies wouldn't be cured but they would regain enough memories back to where they could be domesticated and work as slaves.
Was the cure something they had all along? Or was it finally developed after the capture of Alice at the beginning of Retribution? Or maybe Alice had some of her clones create it while she trained the others for a year to go to Tokyo and kill Wesker.
Based on the 6th film, Umbrella had the cure since the first incident. How did original Isaac's have it then? He was in hibernation for 10 years. The only difference is:
We learn Umbrella's true motive in this film. Why would they release an actual cure when it goes everything against what they are going for? The Isaac's in the 3rd film wasn't the original. He knew nothing of the cure. Neither did the White Queen.
The only thing that's hard to understand/grasp is the Red Queen. She knew about it. But was programmed to not say anything until 48 hours of humanity was left? That I don't get. She was programmed to value mankind, but also to not harm Umbrella. In this film, she clearly has the functions to betray her programming.
Isaac's says something on the lines of 'we clearly have a traitor,' and the camera pans to the Red Queen. Yet in the first film she kills all the Umbrella employees because she couldn't let the T-Virus to escape. Clearly the Red Queen is more advanced then they say. She CAN betray Umbrella.
I agree fully. The cure's shown in the other movies are not the same as this definitive airborne cure featured in TFC.
I do believe that Paul did sort this out in his head to a certain degree, because frankly he's not THAT stupid, the first few films have a proper narrative that makes sense that follows a coherent plot.
I think the problem is, he makes sense of these things in his head, but fails to make them obvious in the script.
Eg the differnces in 'the cure' between 1-6, Eg Wesker probably being a clone, Eg Ashford being a co-creator of the t-virus/creator of the anti-virus only, and so on.
A Resident Evil 7 could tie up all the horrible loose ends well enough if he made the effort.
I know all that and have agreed with you on another topic about them being different. What I'm saying is something different: Alice learns of a supposed cure in the third film and does nothing (that we are shown or told about) about it.
Which contradicts her being excited when the White Queen told her about it; it is implied by Alice's enthusiasm that she will definitely attempt to see this cure manufactured, and find out if it works, how it works, etc.
But the next movie (and the other 2 as well) says nothing about it, like it never happened.
Sure, you can pretend that in between she tried and it didn't work; or the White Queen was destroyed; or whatever; but it's a gigantic plot hole that it goes unaddressed. And when the subject of a cure comes up in RE6, their very last chance to address what happened to White Queen's cure, Alice says nothing about it. She doesn't say "That didn't work last time..." or "I've been told before about a cure" or anything. She acts again surprised, like she hears about a cure for the very first time.
tl;dr RE4 and 5 do not address what Alice did about the cure she heard about (it's okay to say "it didn't work", just SAY it), and RE6 pretends that cure never existed because Alice reacts like she has never heard about the possibility of any kind of cure.
Catch me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this cure you are talking about based on Alice's blood???
By then, Isaac's was in his Tyrant phase and there was no way of having a scientist creating this cure. But then when she is confronted by him, she finds there a thousands of clones of herself and she wants revenge on Umbrella.
There is no "established" cure. The White Queen, to my knowledge, is saying a cure is possible if they use her blood and Alice is not a scientist. So do you expect her to stop her attack on Umbrella's HQ to work up a cure? Nah. Up until this point, Alice is only focused on revenge.
The White Queen says the facility will provide all the equipment required, she says nothing about "buuut you'll need scientists". Her only "but" is about getting Isaacs killed.
But, again, it's fine if you think "she needs scientists." Totally perfect answer. If that answer was given in the FILMS. It's not.
No one ever says anything about what happened with the cure.
I think you're over analyzing it. Alice knew about this cure, but it involved using her blood. It had to be created. Hence all the failed cloned Alice's not passing the Umbrella tests at the beginning of the film.
But after confronting Tyrant Isaac's, she was more focused on taking down Umbrella HQ after witnessing thousands of clones of her. So basically, she went down the path of revenge vs. finding/making that cure. So there was NO cure at the end. It was a tossed plot line.
Umbrella has been trying to control Alice with a satellite, trying to use her as a bioweapon. Do you not remember when they actually succeeded in this at the Las Vegas fight scene? She stopped in her tracks and was motionless and you saw an Umbrella logo in her eyes. But she overpowered it by frying the Umbrella circuits.
When she confronted her clones, she was too overpowered by revenge to worry about a cure. Especially after what Umbrella did to her after the first film (inject the T-Virus into her and then revived her from death at the end of Apocalypse).
