Hollywood cashing in on cancer now?

How pathetic. And people are lapping it up.

They've been really going overboard with it for the past decade. But, what can you do?The fact Indian Paintbrush thought this was a good enough movie for them to be involved with gives this potential though. Not to mention, Olivia Cooke is amazing and already has experience playing the "sick girl" role (Bates Motel,) and she excels at it.

I thought this was an Indie movie. You know, there is a difference.

Also, it's not pathetic to write a story that could inspire or touch people and realize your dream by seeing that story made into a movie. People like you confuse me.

My uncle currently has cancer and could be dying from it. I find nothing wrong with making movies about it, especially since Hollywood and other countries have been making movies about Cancer for decades already (Ever heard of the Shootist? six Weeks? and my all time favorite film: Ikiru) BTW this isn't a Hollywood film.

This movie isn't 'cashing in' on or disrespectful to victims of cancer. It's actually very respectful towards them.

HUH? Where have you been living, under a rock? I take it this was one of your first movies.

For cryin' out loud, cancer & sickness has been thematic in movies since they began (as well they should. Anything & everything should be possible topics. Death AND sickness is part of life & art reflects life).

Guess you never heard of Love story from the 70's or terms of endearment from 80's?

So, according to you, ANYTHING relating to real life sickness (such as cancer) is pandering or taking cheap shot? Sounds like what you are suggesting.
No logic there at all.

There's probably more movies that revolve around death than maybe even romance (which I'd guess is top billing. Or else war might be).

Maybe stick to happy cartoons & you'll not be upset.

My daughter's friend got leukemia at 17 in high school. Everything that happened to her happened to my daughter's friend.

SO yea, it HAPPENS, and I'm glad they made film about it. It was perfect.

and the movie was very weak

And what else are they gonna do after that? Cash in on road trip movies, action movies, dramatic heartfelt movies based on everyday situations?

Ptth, pathetic. They should just film the paint dry. Nothing to capitalize on that.

Stuff like this reminds me of "Movie Poop Shoot.com" from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
