Would Emma Roberts have been a better choise instead of Olivia Cooke?

I'm not sure if it's true, but in trivia says that she's was consider to play Rachel. I thought Olivia was okay in this movie, but I think Emma would be great. I thought Emma did a great job for her movies "Ashby", "Palo Alto". What do you think?

Why does that interest you so much?

Because I'm interested.

In the entire context of what one might be interested in discussing for this movie your question seems to be pretty near the bottom of the list.

If however you actually think Cooke was a bad choice and it spoiled the movie then why don't you discuss why you think so and which other female actors you think would have been better choices and why. That would give everyone some insight to your thought process and might generate some interesting discussion.

I don't think Cooke was a bad choice. As I said, Roberts maybe was considered to play for the lead role (if it's true), then it means that she have in connection with this movie. I didn't said that Emma was needed to play.

I think Cooke was an excellent choice. That was the first time I saw her, she is cute and plays vulnerable very well. I frankly don't like Emma Roberts much, she was featured in "Scream Queens" and she plays an evil or difficult person pretty well, but we'll never know how she would have been in "Dying Girl."

I think they made the right choice with Cooke. And that is why they are in the casting business!!

Emma Roberts is definitely a limited actress. She's good as a witchy Ryan Murphy villain but I find her pretty mediocre outside of that role. She was mediocre and then at the end of the film bad in Scream 4. I don't hate her but I just think that she is a pretty meh actress at the moment.

Olivia Cooke has a really good screen presence and is a very talented actress, I can't wait to see her in more films.

TxMike, you said "In the entire context of what one might be interested in discussing for this movie your question seems to be pretty near the bottom of the list.".

In other words, you expect everyone to be like you and when they are not you criticize them.

I don't really think Emma could've pulled off this role. She doesn't do understated very well.

reply

She was pretty good doing understated in 'It's Kind of a Funny Story' but anyway I think Cooke did a fantastic job.

i cant imagine anyone else take the role better than Cooke

No way, Emma Roberts is an awful actress. Olivia did a fine job.

Isn't this like saying Anne Hathaway would be a better choice than Greta Gerwig in a Noah Baumbach film?

Emma Roberts seems pretty mainstream, I don't why you'd think she'd be a better fit than relative newcomer Olivia Cooke in a quirky film like this.

reply

No!!
I became a fan of Olivia Cooke after watching this movie. I'm now watching Bates Motel mainly because of her.
Astounding actress.

Emma Roberts is wonderful and I want to see more of her but I also don't want too much of a good thing. So I am conflicted. I think I would prefer her in this movie than Adult World because I don't like the story.
