shareas a film accent cynic, its high praise, that i thought it was undetectable that she wasn't who she was portrayed to be.

Yes she sounded American to me.
There was one time when she said "no hope in site" that might have had a very slight British accent. Also near the end in the letter to the college she said "kind" in a British way I think.
The British have a tendency to talk softly sometimes and then they are difficult to understand. She might have done that but probably no more than an American would.
