It was bothering me so much I watched it again, with the brightness turned up so i could 'study' things better..
1. what was the type of apocalypse?
A decline in Oil Production and the answer was right at the start of the movie darn it, wotadummyifeell..
"It's actually pitch/tar extracted from the tree bark", ta for that NoHero
ICSud, yes pitchtar burns very well
the seeds where pumpkin seeds...perhaps they where not worth growing i.e. little nutrition...
1,3,4 are done,
Question 2 is still up....
People the end of the world is near unfortunately and you all need to prepare your bag of seeds and know about survivalist growth in the region where you plan to be!
To answer question number 2 if you have seen the amount of rainfall during the film it should answer the question of avoiding pumpkin planting and growth.
Pumpkins need well drained soil and a steady supply of Nitrogen Potassium and Phosphorus. I am very sure that by the time the movie claims the story is taking place the natural reserves of Phosphorus will have already gone!
As it stands from the moment I am typing this message, the amount of Phosphorus in our planet will have another 20 years at most before they are completely depleted and be able to be acquired only through human or animal urine. Pumpkin also requires plenty of Nitrogen, probably all the urine that would otherwise feed the rest of the garden. Urine to be completely useful needs to sit for 4 months before use!
So the downside of him to plant pumpkin would be the amount of heavy rain, absence of proper drainage, lack of 100 to 140 days of warmth (frost free days).
He could secure the rich soil by planting directly above someone's buried body but then the nitrogen reserves he would pour in it would be washed off by the rains and also the plant would suffer from frosty weather.
So it is best to avoid such plant in that environment. Also let's not forget that to him the idea of trading food for those particular pumpkin seeds was not attractive as they were obviously passed on from other "traders" together with the jewelry.
Boy did the sight of jewelry made me laugh so hard that I spilled beer through my nose!
And yes the true survivalist would be Mia!
PS; If you have a body on your hands make sure you drain and dry their blood for fertilizer!
Nice reply FNTZ.... can you recognise the ther plants he was growing? I'm pretty sure silverbeet was one
shareNot really sorry. I was watching it on Putlocker for the first time just before I replied your message and voted 9! I could not make out most of those details due to screen quality. Mostly they were salad type greenery though with small roots and edible leaves good for soups and stews. Interestingly enough I did not see any potatoes being peeled though the movie being from Ireland and all )))
shareSo you missed the potato been seeded and rooted, ummmm, well actually, fertilised and planted, A wierd version og Potatoe and Creme if I must say so myself... There must be a name for that, tried to look it up but couldnt finc the full 547 types of sexualitys...... I did see some turnips and pretty sure that tall green leafy plant planted next to the center path was silverbeet,,,, no carrots tho', lucky! Both women would got pregnent 8?
My copy was crappy too...
I must say I did not miss the initiation of the human induced "fertilization" and I was surprised that the guy would masturbate when I believe it would be very important for him to conserve his energy! His lack of ability to master solitude was the death of him.
I believe a survivalist should not think about sex and the female species at all!
I have lived like that guy for the last five years actually; eating only once a day, always going hungry, no air conditioning, no heating in winter time, I wash with cold water only and I haven't touched another human being since then! I walk 10 hours every day covering a distance of 160 Km to go and return to my office which is in another town.
When the time comes and others will be in shock from the changes in their lifestyle, I will have been prepared, devoid of nostalgia or sentimentality and in perfect health! In short I will have been fully forged. I do make very good money though as a Hazmat engineer in explosive environment which I save all and if I had a wife or someone who loved me and I loved, I would not be able to do my job without feeling a great sense of fear which i this work is a very deadly mistake! I collect a lot of public seeds and grow my own food.
I live next door to some vicious junkie-thieves, it's already in a apocalypse world... Fearnot, sounds like your a bomb disposal expert on a tour of Afghanistan
shareNo I work with accidents only (non nuclear). I just wait for the call. Plenty of free time to study anything I like, to exercise, to go to seminars for new non-contact-testing technology purchase all around the world (usually us, singapore china japan korea) and plenty of money and insurance when the call finally takes place. Work is rife with mishaps especially if you employ the wrong tools in the wrong environment and that is usually the gamble since every businessman lies about what caused the problem in the first place.
But I am cheaper than a robot and more versatile ))) And I have a sense of patriotism only to myself so no Army for me
your darn right about business.... I keep thinking perhaps the Survivalist knocked back those seeds 'cause he alread knew the brand, King's, was no-good...be safe out there Fearnot
Yeah, totally false about the phosphorus shortage. I'm sure the foil suits you ;)
shareKings seeds are government issue.
