Question for people who have read and watched both.

Hey there! Ive only watched the movie (which I liked but I haven't read the manga yet so I'm sure it's much different) but my question is, if I read the manga (so far im collecting the colossal editions which there are 2 editions so far collecting 1-10) but I've read that the manga and anime are literally the same. I'm planning on reading the manga first, is it actually worth watching the anime too? To me, even if its identical I'd still watch the anime but some people have strong opinions about doing both.

So yeah, I'm definitely going to read it first but do you guys recommend the anime also? Even if its identical? It's bothering me haha thanks!

Oh yes, definitely do both!

It's not so much because it is "identical", they're two very different mediums, reading is a whole different thing, everything is there as the author intended, whereas in the anime it can skip the occasional detail, you know, small stuff that makes this such a great series.

But the anime definitely adds a whole lot of [awesome] layers to it, from the animation, the soundtrack, and the extremely talented voice work. It's definitely a treat, moreso when both the manga/anime are equally good.

Also, some people can't get past the manga, because they consider the art to be "bad", so they stick with the anime, but I for one like it very much.

I don't know how you intend to to it, but I suggest reading the first 33 Chapters, then watching the anime (and OVAs too, if you want, although only a few are canon) before continuing on with the manga!

Chapter 33 = the final episode, 25, although the very end the chapter/episode differ slighly from eachother. You'll understand when you see it!

I hope this was helpful.
I have yet to watch the live-adaption, but I can tell you right now that you'll probably forget about it once you start reading/watching the original. Hopefully, you'll see how good Attack on Titan really is, and how they destroyed the original work with this "adaptation".

(I don't know if you're up to date but I might as well tell you; currently there are 72 Chapters, and a 2nd season is expected, finally, to premier sometime next year. Chapters come out once per month, spoilers/pictures from the chapter usually come out anywhere from the 5th-8th day of said month, and a translated chapter (in english) is usally out from anywhere between the 8th-11th day of said month, it depends entirely on those who translate it, but it's always around that time!)

Fine, fine, I'll leave! But first I'm going to bother these peanuts! Hmm? Yes? Hmm? HMM?

What the guy above said.

Though I'd give the live adaptation just a 6 out of 1O. There are some important plot points and characters from the manga or anime that were missing in the film.
