This started off well...

...then it got very repetitive from episode 14 onwards. It felt like forever when they were chasing the female Titan. Some episodes in between mixed with a whole 20 minutes of flashbacks. quite disappointed that they didn't make it to Eren's cellar.

And I bet you they still wont get to the cellar after season 2.

Lots of dull scene halting monologues though!

If you read the manga, you will find that...

... they still don't reach the cellar by the end of season 2. Close though. They just have to get through three seriously powerful titans.

Yeah that was my main issue with this as well.. although I still did enjoy it immensely I have to say.

For me is wasn't so much the monologues in general such as the episode based ones.... but when they decided on numerous occasions to have these 15-20 minute monologues in the middle of battle or a situation that required immediate haste that really infuriated me.. I would be shouting at the tv stuff like ''just get the fucvk outta there already!!'' its like the characters are about to die unless they run or move right now... yet they just stop and have a 10 minute conversation like they have all the time in the world... god that was so annoying.

There was an episode where Eren was about to bite down and turn into a Titan but was then told by the others to put his trust in them.

The episode ended and the next full episode was a flashback to the camp where it showed some team bonding event that brought them closer together and the episode finished the flashback and went back to Eren deciding not to bite his hand after all because he 'put his trust in them'

It was waste of time filler episodes like that that made me like the series less as time went on.

yeah I was the same.. I don't want to sound too negative because like I said I still really enjoyed it overall.. but 4 or 5 episodes in I was genuinely thinking to myself... this is awesome.. potential evangelion beater... but like you say... as time went on and with 'filler' episodes and silly long filler casual chats in the middle of being crushed or shot to death.. I also liked it less and less.. still very very good... but not one my all time faves... which from the start it looked like it could have become.

"at least this one has the characters actually speaking to each other, rather than freezing time in the middle of a battle for one character to have a 30 minute inner monologue"

Are you sure you watched the same series as we all did?

All anime is like that

Granted I haven't watched very many, but still.

I can't think of a single anime that doesn't suffer from this. Granted I haven't watched very many, but still.

Muhahahaha!! I bet that sure showed you!!! 😁

Anime in general does tend to overly rely on these types of scenes. But the length, repetitiveness, and general worthlessness of the ones in AoT is well over a standard deviation beyond the norm for the genre.

Monologues aren't this frustrating in every anime series. It helps when they aren't so ponderous and inane to start.
