Maybe I'm going over the top, but I've learned to seriously see some of these characters as real living beings.
To those who haven't watched this show, it's extremely addictive for all the RIGHT reasons. Mikasa, Levy & Annie are all so intriguing.
WARNING - Main characters outside our three protaganists, can be killed of at any point. Although I have to implore the righters to be more brave and KILL off characters who seem unexpendable.
On the flipside, they have a lot of explaining to do, for example what happened to Erens Father. Development of Annie's motivation.
My head is going to explode, I loved 24 out of 25 episodes. with episode 7 and 23 being literally the best thing I've seen in ages.
I just finished watching season 1 on Hulu and i'm glad to hear there's going to be a season 2 (and this very year in fact; good timing for me). But from what I understand, the manga still isn't completed, so I wonder if season 2 will resolve the story or if we'll have to wait a few more years for season 3 to do that. Hmm.
And yeah, I know, I could just read the manga, but I started out with the show so i'd kind of like to finish it with the show.
I LOVED this show from the start. But I think it was when that whole Trost thing began that I started to get bored. Those monogologues that seemed to grow longer and longer, and way too repetitive really started to ruin the show for me. Eventually I started to browse the net while watching the show.
After they departed on their expedition I got excited again. But again, it got way too bogged down in circle-talk. By the end of the season I was left wanting more, yet bumbed out about how the show plummeted (for me, that is). It seems i'm not alone in this point of view.
Not saying the show is bad, and I am NO fan of overly long and pointless action scenes, but the character development felt very empty and progressing at a snails pace in comparison to all the talking that was going on.
i dont think the 2nd season's ever coming. They gave us a release date and then changed it again and again that now it is starting to look like they're full o's**t
Umm, they already confirmed that Season 2 will premiere next year, in April, so I'm not sure what you're on about...
When the first season ended, there was not enough material for a season 2, and they had to wait at least two years to have enough...
This is all common knowledge, it's not like we would've gotten a season 2 in 2014, or even in 2015. That was never going to happen.
And in the meantime, the studio worked on Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, which is why they didn't start to work on Season 2 right away.
Look, I have nothing against you, but it really bothers me when I see people complaining that "durr hurr it's been 3 years wtf", when they don't seem to realize that there's only 12 chapters a year (1 per month), as opposed to stuff like One Piece that comes out every week.
So, yeah, we were always gonna wait this long.
Fine, fine, I'll leave! But first I'm going to bother these peanuts! Hmm? Yes? Hmm? HMM?
alright then my apologies. It's just that they gave us release dates, was it 2 or 3 times in the past 3 years that never happened. I mean once is fine, the 2nd time you would think they'd go thru with it that time but no they make live action movies instead... twice., then a year passes and another. Who wouldnt think they're full o shiznit by this time? I mean why not just say "we'll finish it when we finish it." Jeez dude you're makin it look like what i said was sooo uncalled for. lol. Anyway i still love em for makin the show. i think its dope. And im still a fan regardless of them being full of crap or not.
"So, yeah, we were always gonna wait this long." <<<---- ????
It's just that they gave us release dates, was it 2 or 3 times in the past 3 years
I'm sorry, but that's wrong. They never gave release dates. They simply said that a 2nd season "would happen" (obvious), and gave an estimate (year).
There was never any talk about any actual dates.
but no they make live action movies instead...
You do realize that the animation studio has absolutely nothing to do with the making of the live-action movies, right...? Like, absolutely nothing. The live-action movies are a whole different business, different production teams, contracts, etc.
who wouldnt think they're full o shiznit by this time? I mean why not just say "we'll finish it when we finish it."
"So, yeah, we were always gonna wait this long." <<<---- ????
Bruh, I already explained it to you in the other post... I'll try to make it simpler.
Season 1 aired in 2013, right?
Season 2 was never going to happen in either 2014 or 2015 because there was no sufficient material for an adaptation, do you understand that?
Just like how you couldn't possibly have a 7th Harry Potter film before the actual 7th book came out, right?
That's why I said that we - anime viewers - were always gonna have to wait 2 years at the very least before seeing a Season 2, and that's exactly what happened.
Again, I'll try to make this very simple with the following example:
- Let's say that the year is 2013, and Harry Potter 6 came out in the theaters; - Harry Potter Book 7 will come out in mid-2015 which, obviously, means that the movie can't possibly/realistically come out in 2014, or even in 2015, right? Because it takes a f_cking while to make a movie, more than 6 months, so 2015 would've been an impossible date.
Now, back to Attack on Titan; - when the Anime ended in 2013, the latest manga chapter to come out was 44 (I think); - the animation studio needed the manga to reach chapter 70 before STARTING to work on Season 2; - chapter 70 only came out LAST YEAR, around June or something, and that's why they only started working on it recently.
Thus, like I said, Season 2 could've never happened in either 2014/2015. The only reason it got delayed to April 2017 is because:
- the studio made another anime in the meantime (nothing wrong with that); - they wanted to give the manga more time to publish new material in the meantime, so they can have enough "room" to work with what they have.
Fine, fine, I'll leave! But first I'm going to bother these peanuts! Hmm? Yes? Hmm? HMM? reply share
ok calm down fkr i know what i said are not exactly facts. Its just what i've read in forums the time i was asking around about the show. I mean im no hardcore anime fan or anything (i dont even know what a manga is. Until now anyway) so i dint like look into the info if it was reliable or not. Hell i dont know if yours is, although it does sound familiar. I appreciate your Simple explanation though it does clear it up so thank you. Where da fook were you 3 yearas ago ei?
April 2017 it is then. If that doesnt happen then we'll do this again on May
Manga = comic book sort of thing Anime = visual adaptation, although not all anime need to have a manga.
Basically manga = book and anime = movie/tv show adaptations.
In Attack on Titan's case, the manga is the original source of work, meaning that if you don't want to wait any longer, you can always read it.
I just know this stuff because I've been following the manga even before the anime was made, so yeah, I'm kinda "in touch" with the latest and official news, that's all.
