Despite what the original Cloverfield fanboys and critics said, it was great movie from sci-fi perspective and I could appreciate it even as a standalone film.
Compared to Cloverfield Lane, this one is way better and at least shows some connection to original monster. And the fact that the action is in space is also pleasing, there is a huge lack of movies like this, reminded me Interstellar too.
I agree. I really think it works as a standalone film and it also gives you a little bit more info about the clover field universe as a whole, just maybe not as much as people were hoping for. but yeah, it's well made, suspenseful, and entertaining.
