Earth has no energy?

What happened to solar power energy ?

reply

And wind. That's a great point, ml. Also in the movie they stated that all energy resources would "be exhausted in five years".
That sounds dramatic, but how the hell could they predict that?

reply

Sorry, but solar and wind are not yet widespread enough to power all homes and business let alone in 2nd and 3rd world countries, not even counting all the gas powered cars.

reply

True, but it would provide some energy. The earth would never be totally out of energy as long as the sun was still there.

Wave energy could be put into place in almost every square foot of the ocean.

True! An excellent point, darth. I did not think of that.

reply

Err... what about nuclear energy?

reply

Clovie ate all the uranium? ;)

reply

From what I understood on this film, Clovie (the first monster of the Cloverfield movie) did not exist on this universe, at least not before the paradox from the space station.

reply

But they could be.

We don't have particle accelerators in space either.

The Earth is likely going to run out of clean water before energy.

reply

So communists countries do not have solar and wind power?

"Second World" refers to the former communist-socialist, industrial states, (formerly the Eastern bloc, the territory and sphere of influence of the Union of Soviet Socialists Republic) today: Russia, Eastern Europe (e.g., Poland) and some of the Turk States (e.g., Kazakhstan) as well as China.

reply

Yes but this is not present time as we cannot build a spaceship as the one in the movie... So it is fair to argue that at this point sun, wind, water power etc. should be widespread across the globe... We might be running out of oil but all cars should be electric at this point... so the premise makes no sense... This really was an awful film...

reply

Not too bright in the heads of Hollywood writers.

reply

That's because their brain bulbs ran out of energy.

reply

Well, honestly, there is not a lot of sun under the rocks where those Hollywood slimebags like Harvey Weinstein hang out.

reply

Weinstein was good at movies, but he is a slimebag nonetheless.

It would be nice if science fiction had a lot more science and a little less fiction.
