Box Office projections

I'll take my chances after the holidays. The movie still opened 3rd top opening week end this year. I reject the notion that anything below second place this year is a box office bomb.

They're losing the trust of the fans because they're making unoriginal rehashes with identity politics built-in and no general outline, regardless of the technical excellence on display.

Yes, but it's amazing how much money they've left on the table.

All they had to do was give the original characters a dignified reunion and respectable send-off/death while passing the torch to the next generation.

But, no, they had to consciously destroy the personalities of the old characters, all the while ham-fisting the half-assed new characters down the fans throats.

It wasn't necessary, and it wasn't good business - but the new team was driven by their SJW agenda, and couldn't help but let the populace know how much they hated the traditional roles & values portrayed in the OT.

SJW's are nothing more than narcissistic self-hating garbage, spreading their innate contempt for themselves over the rest of the world.

However, much like the Transformers franchise, Star Wars is trending down

While I completely agree SW is trending down....I no way would compare it to Transformers or Even The Pirates Franchise...

The numbers simply arent comparable

I was extremely curious to see TROS's numbers, because honestly I truly had no clue how it would perform, I actually thought it was entirely possible a "Transformers or Pirates" type drop could be coming after The 1-2 punch of TLJ and Solo

But Theres no getting around These OW results....the SW franchise is still Incredibly strong

In fact, while I agree, there no arguing The franchise isnt trending down, but if you look at The Overwhelming Majority of Trilogies or Franchises, The Drops were seeing with SW are Way better than the norm.

again with The LONE exception being Marvel Studios MCU films

but overall Its pretty rare for a series of films with 3 more to continue to make more than its predecessor

The overwhelming Majority of Long running series Have drops and again while SW is certainly having drops, With The Results of This Opening Weekend for TROS, SW drops are Better than Most, especially given The "League" its in....

the 1.5 BILLION+ and 200 M+ opening Week club is rare...

I mean you Have Franchises like The Fast and Furious and Jurassic World that are having Bigger drops by far

I think saying These series are Trending down is just not the right terms...while technology true, they are trending down, these 3 series(SW,JW and F+F) are on FIRE and are just having normal drops...

for me, when were talking about a Franchise Trending Down....something like Transformer, Pirates, the DCEU, Terminator, Men In Black, X-Men, Fantastic Beasts, Planet of The Apes, Alien, the Bourne Franchise, Under World, Resident Evil, The Transporter, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles + The Expendables

another example was The Amazing Spider-Man, You had 2 films that both Disappointed, one was awful...But TASM1 Dropped Huge in Box office from SM3, Then TASM2 posted franchise lows in everything

In all these franchises cases, You had Disastrous drops from the last films in the series, HUGE DROPS with nothing suggesting additional films would do any better


I just dont see SW, JW or F+F having anything in common with them, yes they are having drops, But saying They are "Trending Down" just doesnt for me feel right....they are UBER franchise still producing MONSTER hits




This should be making Avengers:Endgame money. It's not and it won't.

I dont see any facts you could point to that suggests it should be making EG Money

as I've pointed out, every single film thats topped 1.5 B, Its sequel has DROPPED and didnt hit 1.5 B(the lone exception is Avengers)

If Jurassic World 2 topped JW1's 1.6B..
If Fate topped Furious 7's 1.5 Billion..
If Age Of Ultron topped Avengers 1s 1.5 B..
If Avatar 2 tops Avatar 1's 2.780 B...

Then maybe you'd have something to actually base your expectations of SW making EG money on.

They're slowly losing the trust of the fans. Disney needs to continue to push good Star Wars content through Disney+ in order to gain back the fans they lost.

agree, but based on TROS OW, Its not nearly as bad as one expected...

SW fans are clearly unhappy but this isnt anything new....

7 of the last 8 SW films have beendisliked or hated by SW fans....

Yet SW fans are still coming in full force....

I made a post about this in another thread....SW fans are among the oddest thing I've ever seen....

I've never seen a franchise with such hardcore fans that dislikes the movies based on characters they love so much....

at this point, It seems almost impossible that anyone will ever make a SW film that will please SW fans....

I cant think of any other franchise where films keep getting made where the core fan base hates them and yet they still keep showing up in FULL force to make the films UBER successful....

so while I agree fans are unhappy and clearly some are passing....after 7 of 8 straight films that have disappointed SW fans....I think Its clear, The SW fans are going anywhere...

Most publications have been estimating $190 million based off of Thursday & Friday. I know that $175 million was a conservative estimate before Thursday and Friday, but everything is pointing to $190 million opening. Guess we'll know for sure in 3-4 hours.
