Is Star Wars Dead?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsNQAP3iORI

This is a Robot Head video, in which he cleverly describes the decline of Star Wars as analagous to the sinking of the Titanic, but it's later on in the video, where he describes some "new", "modern" "fans" (in their comments at least) as loving Star Wars now DESPITE the Jedi, the Sith and saying they like all of the Star Wars material out there EXCEPT for the Original Trilogy, which they dismiss as "too campy". They actually love the stuff except for the Jedi and Sith, which they consider to be childish and magic (which could technically be true) and even say that Lord of the Rings (Jackson's movie trilogy) is just as simplistic but nowhere near as childish as Lucas' Star Wars vision is.

My own personal take is: I find the OT very old-looking and boring these days, as the first film (A New Hope) turns 50 in just four years time, and half-a-century is enough for ANYTHING to look old at that point, and to be honest, when I did a rewatch of the first six movies, I found the Prequels to be more interesting, as it at least leads to the Clone Wars cartoon series which elevates the whole PT to a high level, like a mini-franchise in itself.

In any case, there are people here who defend Disney Star Wars to the hilt, and here is a chance for them to say why "new" Star Wars, is "better".

I love the shows on Disney+.

Mandalorian is great, and the Book of Boba Fett was good (not my favorite).

Loved Obi-Wan. Young Leia was amazing. I was impressed with how suspenseful it was, even though we know the future of the characters.

Andor was completely unexpected and so so good! There were only a couple of characters that we have seen before, and it was still so Star Wars!

Can't wait for Ahsoka! Wes Chatham will be playing one of Thrawn's aides, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what he does with his character. Also really excited to see the characters from Rebels and, of course, Thrawn.

Nah it's still probably the most globally recognized IP or at least in the discussion. I love the OT trilogy and think it holds up extremely well and if you want to experience SW at its best, watch those. The prequels were pretty bad overall, I do really enjoy episode III as a guilty pleasure, but I understand the story and script aren't great by any means. As bad as the prequels were, I do give Lucas credit for trying to do something very different with those films instead of just trying to repeat.

I have found that I like most of the SW stuff that Disney has done except for the sequel trilogy which I despise, though I haven't watched the Mandalorian or Fett yet. I guess the Obi-Wan show was pretty bad too. In particular I thought Rogue One and Andor were outstanding and Solo to be quite entertaining. I am not at all interested in returning to the Skywalker Saga.
