Why do many Star Wars fans, since at least the prequel trilogy, don’t just hate a bad/divisive Star Wars movie...

but hate the people who make bad/divisible Star Wars movies?

Many Star Wars fans don’t just hate a bad/divisive Star Wars movie. They hate the people who make bad/divisive Star Wars movies. This has been happening since the prequel trilogy. Jake Lloyd and Ahmed Best were bullied and/or sent death threats by fans thanks to their participation in the prequels, which caused Lloyd to have severe mental problems and Best to almost commit suicide.

When it comes to the sequel trilogy, “fans” bullied Daisy Ridley and Kelly Marie Tran to the point where they had to quit social media. And Rian Johnson and John Boyega have also been cyberbullied for their participation in the sequel trilogy.

It’s not just Star Wars. Ghostbusters “fans” also bullied Leslie Jones to the point where she ended up having to quit social media for awhile. Hell I thought it was ridiculous when people criticized her for criticizing the new movie. Considering what she went through, I can definitely see why she was angry at the new movie’s existence! I don’t think what she was said was necessarily okay but I get where she was coming from.

But the most ridiculous thing about this is that all these people were bullied, at the end of the day, for…being in a bad movie.

They were bullying these people, who they have never met and, therefore, don’t know for the crime of being in a movie that didn’t entertain them.

And it’s definitely not just Star Wars and Ghostbusters. I’ve definitely heard statements like “I hate this movie so much I hate everyone who made it” or “everyone who made this movie should be ashamed of themselves”. There are actors, directors, writers, etc. who are judged by people, in various ways, for a lousy movie they made. And sometimes people will turn on a movie just because of the people who made it that they deem as “bad”.
