How geek fandom changed over forty years.

Makes me worried where it will be in the 2050s.

I don't know. I think there are a lot of good fans out there who don't waste their times in forums where people are especially toxic. The funny thing is, these angry guys are obviously not capable of enjoying the movies but they are obsessed with them.
It's like an Incel obsessed with a woman he can't have. LOL

Invested: to use, give, or devote (time, talent, etc.), as for a purpose or to achieve something

You've heard that term before, correct?

In money terms, when one invests in a company, the better it does, the better return it gets on one's investment. Not only is this true, but investing in a company i.e. buy stock, gives the investor a vote, thus a voice in the direction the company makes.

Although there is no money to be made if one makes an investment of time for a franchise, it doesn't mean they want a negative return on their investment, correct? And if they've made such an investment, is it so wrong for them to vent their dissatisfaction to the shoddy products that are put out?

Going back to money investments, if you are losing 20% year after year on a company, what do you do? You sell and you're done. What about if the company is one that makes products you like and buy regularly? Do you want to see the company go under, or would you like to see the company right the ship and get its finances in order and continue to produce quality products?

Nothing has changed over 40 years. The only that has changed is the platform was created that allowed people to voice their displeasure. Are you happy with Rotten Tomatoes new "guidelines" since Capt Marvel? Did you buy their reasons for the change?

Best post i have read in a long time.

The "small vocal toxic moniority" that the media likes to push are the actual fans voicing there displeasure at what is happening to Star Wars and to the franchise they love and have devoted almost all there lives from children to adulthood. But of course these are the toxic fans, yes the toxic fans that kept the franchise alive for 40 years.

I and many others voice our opinions because we have spent so much money and time into Star Wars and hate to see what is happening. I would throw money at anything Star Wars in the 80's, 90's and beyond but now i spend only on original trilogy and prequel toys and merchandise. The new stuff is garbage and is shown by not even being stocked in toy stores, even Disney stores don't stock Star Wars toys which tells you everything.

Now i am sure i will get the usual response of "if you don't like it, stop watching it". Which falls into what is above and is a tupid arguement. No i won't stop watching, complaining and giving my opinion for one reason and one reason only.

I AM A STAR WARS FAN.

If Disney put out a good product and good quality toys and merchandise people wouldn't be complaining, people would be enjoying and spending money. Look at the recent San Diego Comic Con, all the new line of Star Wars toys (high end ones) were all original trilogy and prequel with a couple of the new trilogy. The original trilogy and prequel ones walked off the shelves.
