This board is a toxic waste dump

It brings out the worst in everyone who posts here, myself included. Which is why I don't post much.

And no that is NOT an apology for anything, in fact it's another general insult.

reply

Nah, it's weak. The hatred was so much more pure and scathing (and entertaining) in IMDb days.

reply

Seriously. I kind of miss the intense, never ending arguments and vendettas of the IMDB boards.

reply

I really miss the IMDB Star Wars boards, it was a great place to debate and post issues about the Prequels and the new movies.

To almost quote the Joker, this board needs an enema!

Nah, it was just asking for it.

LOL, Delicious!

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy...

reply

That would be a great line for a movie that has a hive of evil bees.

reply

Xenomorphs (Alien) have a hive mentality as well.

reply

It'll only bring out the worst in you if you let it. You can't just take it so serious, and remember that it is only movies that your debating with people. There are far worse situations in the world than fighting with other Star Wars fans. Like if you lived in some war torn country, and were starving for food.

I always try to give the person I disagree with the most respectful response I can to their argument. No matter how much I might disagree with them. I've had a lot of very well mannered debates on these forums as a result.

reply

That's certainly how most posters, myself included, behave on every board on this forum that doesn't involve the rageaholic Star Wars "fanboys".

They're, uh, a special breed...

reply

I agree with you here, I generally don't get angry about anything posted here. Its movies and shows, not life or death. I would say that the only toxic parts of the boards is involving the politics.

reply

That's true, I completely avoid the political boards. Really, most of the boards on this forum are civilized enough and it's possible to have some very interesting discussions. There are just a couple of spots that are "toxic waste dumps", and the "Last Jedi" board is one of them.

reply

Nothing new here: religious people thinking that people who don't share their religion are a toxic waste dump.

But for some reason, instead of posting it in some progressist religion forum, it's posted in a movie forum. Oldest story in the book: it's hard for religious people to keep their religion in private, instead of trying to evangelize everybody :(

reply

StarWars fanaticism is very much like a religious cult...

reply

True. However, this is not about Star Wars fanaticism, but about people who don't want to see the most iconic movie franchise transformed in a vessel to sell the religion of feminism and diversity (or any other religion).

reply

Exactly. This is just another opportunity for virtue signaling.

reply

What ? This board is a flower garden of teddy bears holding hands compared to the old IMDB boards.

reply

Toxic teddy bears wasted in a flower garden dump? ;)

reply

It's a good board, actually. It really helps you see beyond the bought for film ratings.

I just wish it also had the rest of the imdb features - actor names, films they stared in, film synopsis, etc.

If it did, I'd never have to visit imdb ever again.
