Who thinks Disney will follow through with Johnson's Trilogy that at this point doesn't even have a script, story, or even a general idea other than 3 stand alone movies? Will be fun to see who can predict the future.
Personally I doubt Johnson's trilogy will come to fruition after the fan reaction of the TLJ.
I think we're due for a press release stating that Rian Johnson has "the greatest respect for Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm" but that he was "compelled" to abandon this new trilogy over "creative differences" (low box office).
I know verbalizing your fantasies is popular but that is not based in any reality. Episode nine would also have to be a Justice League size disappointment and it clearly be Kennedy's fault and not Abrams before anyone at Disney would even attempt to formulate the thought that Kennedy should go.
The way Solo is going I do expect another pretty big mess there. I don't see how Kennedy won't at least ride out this trilogy though.
I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see and if you have any thoughts or criticisms, i'd love to hear them. Thanks in advance. https://youtu.be/nerCnafPUm8
They already fired Trank, Lord and Miller, Trevorrow, and even supposedly Gareth Edwards from the reshoots. They don't seem to want even a hint of controversy surrounding these movies
Maybe their fire first, ask questions later approach is right after all. The one hot shot auteur that they actually let write and direct their film produced the steaming pile of shit that is The Last Jedi
What I don't get is why RJ was even considered. He doesn't have the required experience. These films should have been done by seasoned writers and directors, not greenhorns. The only reasons I can think of is that he was a cheap yes-man, perfectly willing to toe the party line and do whatever KK wanted.
I wouldn't blame KK. She was over Lucas film when TFA was made and it's great IMO and Rogue one which is also very good. She was the one who decided Rogue One needed re shoots and brought in a new director to over see that.
The biggest mistake KK has made so far was putting way too much faith in RJ. They hired him as both writer and director without even seeing his pitch. RJ was hired because he was a talented, daring, up and coming film maker. Just what the fan base was asking for. They didn't know his vision was going to piss everybody off.
