shareThe way I see it, Star Wars has a Greater Story and a Lesser Story, and Lucas already told the Greater Story. So what if the Lesser Story was not told as well? We still know Anakin turned to the dark side. Who cares about the other details in the Lesser Story?
That's what we had EU for. But he first allowed it to happen (most of which was OK or even better, I'm not talking about post-ROTJ EU, which I hear was horrible), but then Lucas decided to tinker with EU, too, making a great mess in continuity with his TCW project, negating many great EU stories. Of course not all of them. I wish he had respected what he himself had allowed to be created, and taken into account some of EU stories.

I really don't think Disney can be blamed for anything here, or else the Marvel brand wouldn't be going so strong. Disney allows Lucasfilm to oversee its own work the same way that Marvel Studios is still its own company. They're both simply Disney subsidiaries.

So far the only real mistake Disney has made is the dismantling of LucasArts (putting the Monkey Island series in permanent limbo along others) and handing all game developments over to EA.
shareYou mean with 6 successful films? PT had its issues but they never threatened the Star Wars brand and Disney paid billions for this after those films were released. TFA massive launch was due to the world Lucas created. After TFA being essentially a remake and apparently TLJ being hated by a lot of people. It’s not really that big a leap to want to see Lucas back.
