Liked it more on a second viewing
Not sure why, but I'm a little more positive about this one now....

shareWhy do you really need to see it twice so early?
shareIt's a Star Wars movie. Of course one sees it more than once. Unless it's the prequels. Once was enough for those things.
I watched The Force Awakens 3 times in the first week or so it was out.
As for The Last Jedi-- I left the film with mixed feelings, but I think it deserves a second viewing. The first time seeing a film is spent following the plot, and seeing where things lead. The second time through you see things you couldn't the first time around because you need to know where the film goes in order to understand them.
So you see it multiple times just because itβs a Star Wars movie? Explain
shareNot because it's a Star Wars film, but you can normally count on a Star Wars film to be a quality film worth multiple viewings, partly to pay closer attention to the film-making once you've watched once for plot, and partly for the breathtaking moments. The garbage prequels didn't warrant re-watching, but the original three did, as did The Force Awakens.
shareI watched it opening night and the next day. Didn't really need a reason other than I wanted to.
shareSaw it again today. I too liked it more the second time. This is one of those films that takes repeat viewings to truely appreciate imo.
Glad to hear it Janel.
It's very good and very re-watchable I think. It's one of my favorite Star Wars films.
I thought Antichrist was empty pointless sadistic rubbish when I first saw it, but then it wouldn't leave my mind. Eventually I realized I liked it a lot and simply took it for what it was instead of criticizing it for failing to be what I believed it was trying to be.
Even having liked it, this one is growing on me in a similar way. Still a messy plot though.
Yeah...it's a little messy but it's highly entertaining. I think it's much more re-watchable than TFA.

maybe you initially went into the movie with your own fan-expectations regarding what the film is supposed to be about... and now that the dust has settled you're finally seeing the movie on it's own terms and it seems different from the soul crushing dissapointment that other fans have been complaining about on this site for a week or so...
or...
It's a rationalisation to allow yourself to continue to be a fan and the movie does actually suck... π
these are just my Psych 101/film theory guess π... I'm glad you're enjoying it...
I saw it a second time too but I don't think I can say I liked it more. It was close, but the surprises of the first viewing were just too good.
