Honestly if I ever was a big film maker I would not want to tackle a Star Wars project. Star Wars had so much cultural impact that it has become toxic. I feel like there is no way to please everyone. I know that is the case with anything but I feel like with Star Wars it is on a whole different level.
It’s a huge fan base that got an reasonably entertaining but largely lazy new movie in TFA, a nice nostalgic film though uninteresting story in Rogue One and now this film which seems to have irritated even more people including some of the people that praised TFA. This is after they sh*tcanned the EU that had many stories superior to what we have seen on screen, at least as far as Rogue One and TFA are concerned. I still need to check out TLJ.
It’s impossible to please everyone, all you can do is try to do your best to make something good that will hopefully please enough people.
It is true you can not please everyone. I can not speak for all but I feel sometimes people go in with unreasonable expectations. We all have what we want to see going into a film. However just because it does not meet those expectations does not mean it is a bad film by default. I try to judge a movie for what it is not for what I want it to be. This is not saying you can not have criticisms I just try to give things a fair shake. Not saying my method is perfect by any means.
