Had they established, that she was force sensitive or even at least mentioned it after this stunt, it would have made more sense to the audience. I think in thrawn trilogy comics she threw a lightsaber using the force. But there's absolutely no explanation, why she's able to survive space pressure and float back to the airlock in the movie. Newer generations of newcomers to SW probably were wondering, what the hell was going on.
