the status quo of the first order in terms of plot was kinda lame

Am i the only one who think tilting the leverage back to the empire/rebel dynamic in TFA was lame as fuck and safe? So they blow up a few planets and all of a sudden the order outnumbers everyone now?....SERIOUSLY?

reply

I wondered that too... surely a remnant group like the First order would have suffered massive losses with the mega deathstar dying.
Now they also mention they are buying their weapons which makes me wonder where the money is coming from.

I always thought a sequel to the OT would involve a small but violent group of Empire loyalists going up against the New Republic to mirror modern terrorists attacking the West. They can flip the dynamic of the small group of rebels fighting a massive empire.

Instead, they just randomly had the Empire returning in the form of the First Order.

reply

Yeah, the remnant story would be better.
The Empire would have been massive, plenty of Admirals could have tried to assume control.

I never like the First Order though, the name makes no damn sense. First Order of what?

TFA was such a rehash the new trilogy is basically a stealthy reboot. The fact the first order got such a huge boost in power and numbers is totally contrived. The balance of power was tilted to them waaaay too easily.

And TLJ is ESB in reverse.

The new trilogy is just a thinly veiled rehash. I loved Rogue One, even though it had tons of interference cause Disney didn't want it to be a war movie. I think people like it best when the good guys are outmatched in fictional war movies for some reason. I think The remnant storyline would have been a fresher idea...But fuck originality because Status Quo is GAWD!!
