The Theme Has Been Covered
It's been done by the book and movie, "Flags of Our Fathers," except that that movie and the book were non-fiction. It sounds like a very well made movie, but I doubt if the subject, the realities of war vice the perceptions of an armchair public, is dealt with as well. After all, a dramatic presentation from a novel to explain the difference between reality and perception seems like something that would be covered better in a non-fiction format. But some people prefer to make up their own reality.
On the other hand, sometimes the reality is so painful that it can only be approached as if it is fictional.
