Sorry but Chadwick won't get an Oscar Nom
Unfortunately, and I love the movie, but it's bombing at the boxo. Unless they re-release it later on and it gets an audience, I feel he won't be in the mix for an award. And he deserves a nom.

I agree - he certainly won't get one. It's a shame this film had to be released on the same day as Guardians/Galaxy.

An Oscar nomination has nothing to do with how much money the movie made at the box office. If the "movie critics" liked that particular performance by an actor, THEY are the ones that have the influence to push for a nomination.
For instance Marion Cortilord who did that French movie. Yves En Rose (sp?) It wasn't that popular at the box office at all with the french subtitles, but the critics praised her performance and she was nominated and won.
Its the performance and opinions of the movie critics about their performance, that gets an actor nominated.
Furthermore back in 1983, Tender Mercies was a HUGE FLOP but it still won a Oscar for Robert Duvall.
It has nothing to do with box office, it has to do with if the critic award groups help him out or not. He is pretty much guaranteed a globe nod for best musical performance.
Terrance Howard had the critics groups backing him and that's why he scored the nod.

It depends on what kind of competition there is....most of the "Oscar" movies get released in the fall so it's hard to say who the contenders are. But I agree...with the movie doing so poorly it's an uphill battle at this point. Sad, he deserves it.
