They really could/should have done more with this. I believe it was JB's idea to televise the concert, to keep potential rioters off the street. That was never mentioned (they did show a TV camera, if you happened to see it). PBS did a special on this a few years ago and implied that JB prevented Boston from joining many other large cities that had racial unrest following MLK's death. This was a huge accomplishment that was downplayed too much in the movie.

I felt like his whole life was down played in this movie. Bad, bad story structure.

OP is correct. I remember this. It was televised to help keep people off the streets.

I read that was the mayors doing and James Brown knew nothing about it. He was upset that it took away from his "gate fees" by showing it for free
