Jill Scottt...

was pretty good in this film. She's turned into quite the turn on

Yeah, she looked good. I think she and Chadwick had some chemistry in their scenes together.

But It's not clear why her character was included. Seemed as if there was half a plan that was just dropped.

She was being abused. They wanted to show James' abusive nature towards his wives.

You really have to read like a biography about James Brown to understand him. I'm shocked they kinda swept the part when his son died around 1972. It was touched, but it didn't seem so big. James showed more grief when Dan Ackyrod died.

That's what I thought. How in the hell could they do a funeral for Ben Bart but slightly brush over Teddy Brown's death with a phone call from Velma? That's kinda messed up if you ask me.

Jill is amazing in music and on screen. However, I wouldnt rave about her performance here. She did well with the material that was given and the subpar direction. Her character was poorly developed. She didnt get a chance to shine in my opinion. Seemed like such a backgroundish role for an up-an-comer (which I dont consider her) and she has way more talent than that. I would have loved to see more of their relationship, including James' relationships with his other wives.
