That was puzzling to me as well. The only thing I can surmise is that....although it was contagious, it did not make him physically sick, and she didn't want him to miss the trip. I've had that...and it is NOT fun. I had it approximately in the same area on my face as he did. Went to a dermotologist; and he somehow thought I contracted it from playing with animals. Treated me with a topical antibiotic and advised me vehemently to keep my hands out of my face!
