12 Infamous/scandalous moments not in the movie

The one that takes the cake for me, is hitting Tammi Terrell with a hammer. He was a terrible woman abuser. This web site lists some of his most scandalous incidents that weren't in the movie and they are something else:

I don't believe it was James Brown who hit Tammi Terrell in the head with a hammer. Rumor has it that it was Bobby Womack. But who really knows the truth?

reply

I thought it was David Ruffin!

David Ruffin

Black men and a whole lot of *beep* white men have had plenty fun adoring my ass!

Yup it was David Ruffin that really beat and abused her. She fainted on stage singing with Marvin Gaye. He gently scooped her up and carried her off the stage. Sad but true.

James Brown was a mean and abusive man, including men. He treated his loyal band like crap.

The movie is clearly about much more than his scandalous moments.
The movie did not deny James Brown was prone to violence. For example, he terrorized a woman in the beginning of the movie with his shotgun. But does the movie need to make that a central theme? Not really. We do learn enough about his upbringing to understand what may have led James Brown to at times be violent and bitter.

Well put.
