Didn't James Brown date her for a long time? and wasn't their relationship very public? I wonder why they didn't mention her, or cast someone to play her... I was waiting for her to be mentioned in the movie but they never did

He is said to have beat her terribly. She was featured in an episode of "Unsung" and some blamed his abuse for her brain tumors/migraines. Probably didn't want to make the audience dislike him so early on in the film.
