Bad start to the season possible reason for potential cancellation?

Is the fact that the Figgis plot to end last season and begin this season hasn't been well received by fans a major factor into decreased ratings and a potential cancellation for the show?

Not really. The ratings have been down since last spring due to the new timeslot. Whether it canceled or not is a different question but the Figgis plot was largely well received.

If FOX hasn't taken New Girl to an ending, they won't bring B99 to an ending. Some may consider a few of the latest episodes a bit boring or stale, but IMO the show has potential to grow back up and keep going.
