At all. The character is real difficult to warm to, theres nothing redeeming about her and I enjoyed the show better in the episodes she didnt feature in during s2, it's nothing personal against the actress, I dont like the character, I wonder does anyone?
It's the actress IMO. Her entire presence is grating.
I just noticed in her death scene she crossed her legs ever so lady like to die. These little gestures are why she was disconnected. Maybe you don't see them at first but you know the actress is doing something entirely different from everyone else. Her behavior is annoyingly entitled.
Isn't this what always happens though? Men like Tommy who constantly have women throwing themselves at him always end up falling for the ones that are hard to get. He knows he could have Lizzie, May or Tatiana whenever he wants.
But Grace is the one who broke his heart. He was attracted to her from the beginning and then he fell in love with her only to find out she was there on a mission. Then she leaves him but still gives him enough (the letters) to keep her in his memory. And finally when she returns to London, it's this cat and mouse game of her sleeping with him and then returning to her husband.
Grace doesn't have as many redeemable qualities as May. Especially in S2 and S3 - her character is very unlikable. But we can't help who we love. Grace is the woman he pictured his future with from the very beginning.
He knows he could have Lizzie, May or Tatiana whenever he wants.
Growing up with 4 brothers I saw this happen with men who were not like Tommy Shelby.
Grace doesn't have as many redeemable qualities as May.
I agree with this completely. May would be the one that you would choose to marry your brother. However, as a character Grace was more fitting for the show and much more interesting (for me). There are very few characters who I have found myself rooting for, hating and back again in the same episode.

Yes, I loved Grace in Series 1. She was strong and I believed the connection between her and Tommy. Especially in that scene where they both confess "you've seen me".
I was disappointed with the shift in her character in Series 2 and 3. They brought her back looking like a film star and acting so naive and insecure.
One thing which was interesting was that the photo they used at the Grace Shelby Institute was her agent photo. Tommy could've selected a more glamorous photo but he didn't. I felt it was significant. That's Tommy's Grace. When Polly tells her "We remember who you are, even if Tommy has forgotten" --- he hasn't forgotten. It was that Grace he fell in love with - the double agent. Natural, complex and unadorned.
With the exception of Polly and at times Esme, I thought that all of the female characters were badly written in S2. Grace, May and Ada were especially flat and one dimensional.
When Grace came back after S1 she was like an entirely different character. It didn't make sense until Knight confirmed that he killed her off because he couldn't have Tommy happily married to a woman he loves, it's not the story he's telling. It would seem that they wanted to give him a child. He now has a reason to live but is free to have a new love interest each series.
I don't see Tommy getting a happy ever after. He mighg achieve what he set out to achieve but I suspect that he will be lonelier than he was when we first met him.
