Exceptional Action

There was a tremendous action sequence in Atomic Blonde. I'm not an action movie sort of person so my judgement here is as a neophyte. It was was very exciting to see a woman as the protagonist. I'm not sure why there's a lot of complaining about Charlize Theron in this movie, I thought she did a wonderful job. She's insanely beautiful and she looks amazing in this. SPOILER ALERT: James McAvoy is super sinister as her enemy. I liked this movie quite a bit! 7.5/10

I edited it after you wrote that. Sorry! My husband wanted to see this and I had zero interest but I'm so glad I saw it. My expectations were pretty low but you're right, it was really good.

Some truly tremendous action, and yes I thought Charlize was amazing in it. This and Fury Road sure do cement her as a major action star. She also produced this one, I noticed. I want to check out the graphic novel series it's based on now.

A few compared this to the John Wick series, and I only saw the first one of those, but this is much better IMO. Wick was nothing but boring gunplay for the most part, just a bunch of quick headshots.

I want to see the behind-the-scenes on that stairwell/apartment fight and street chase afterward. I saw a few invisible cuts but I'd like to see how much of it was actually filmed in single takes.

That stairway scene was one of the best I have EVER seen. I loved it. From the time she takes Spyglass till the end was nonstop interesting. It was different from other action movies, I think it was just better somehow. Maybe the way they shot it? Not a a ton of cuts? I don't know since I sort of avoid these kinds of movies. A lot of times, I don't even know what's going on in them.

I only saw the first John Wick movie too. I liked it, mostly for the cast.

Hell,yeah----the stairway scene was literally worth sitting through the entire film for (not that the whole film isn't good---it really is,especially if you like espionage thrillers done old-school style) but that's how a real martial arts fighting scene should be done, and it was so realistic. Reminded me of the way it's still done in Hong Kong films nowadays. I loved it. Also, you should see the sequel to John Wick if you get a chance--it's even better than the first one, which is saying a lot because the first one was bad-a** as hell (with an emotional opening scene) it's crazier, with more inventive gunplay, beautiful European locations, and more crazy, eccentric, bad-a** villains going after John Wick's head, lol.
