Who played the young, foolish tag-along?

In Seven Samurai, it was Kikuchiyo, played by ToshirĂ´ Mifune.

In the original M7 (1960) with Yul Brenner, it was Chico, played by Horst Buchholz.

For both of those films, there was a young fool who at the start was shunned by the group looking to build 7. He followed the group anyway and eventually was accepted. He was also the one who bravely (if foolishly) snuck into the enemy camp and came back with intel.

We didn't seem to have that character in this version, did we?

Of course, there are a lot of other notable differences, but I wonder if I missed who was supposedly playing this part.

Brevity is the soul of wit.

The closest character was Red Harvest. He was the youngest and the last to join. Just as Chico spied on the enemy and reported to the 7, Red brought them news that the men would be there by Dawn. Also, the two characters in the previous movies pretended to be fighters, then revealed they weren't. Red Harvest obviously was a real warrior, but his "reveal" was that he spoke some English.
