Denzel and Hollywood colorblind?

Good movie but I was frustrated at how the story takes place in the 1800's and nobody gives attention to Denzel being a Black man, Nobody, unreal. They mention the Mexican and the Native American, but not the Black man, I guess Denzel has transcended above and beyond his Blackness.

Denzel is just a white man with a tan!

The movie takes place after the Civil War. It was not necessary to mention his race. This wasn't Django. And the character had already made a name for himself. People knew who he was the minute they said his name.

Actors are useless without the power of a good writer's imagination

There are articles about black people in the west. You don't think about it because westerns aren't historically accurate at all. While rare they were there.

reply

One article says 1/5th of all men were black.

reply

Denzel's character was based on an actual black lawman named Bass Reeves. Look him up.
