It's too diverse, too PC
Alright I understand that there were different types of people in the West. But I doubt you would find a Mexican, a Black, a Chinese, et al in a crew of bounty hunters. Nice touch, but unrealistic.

shareYou have plenty of whitey-white westerns to choose from. How about you just let this one be and move on?
shareMisterKinish is right.
There are plenty of WHITE privelege westerns out there. Where is my western featuring a prominent LGBTQWSJWYYXOXO transgendered fluid woman of color with a multi cultural cast of LATINO and other brownish people so i can feel good about being open minded from the comfort of my own segregated well off neighborhood ignoring the realities of life.
White people, LOL.
No, MisterKinish's wrong and the OP is the one who's right.
First off, let me say I'm black and as such, and I obviously advocate diversity and despise discrimination. But the idea of a black man leading a posse in a Western is about as senseless as having Denzel portray Abraham Lincoln in a movie or having an all-white cast for "Raisin in the Sun." It's simply anachronistic.

Not diverse enough, the box office says she should have been one of the gunslingers.

I mean, they weren't all bounty hunters. Only Sam was. They were all sort of running their own scams for the most part. The Mexican guy was a fugitive on the run, the Native American seemed to have stumbled on them accidentally, the Chinese man was basically hustling money with Goodnight for a living playing wild West fight club. Chris Pratt was the hustling gambler and Vincent D'Onofrio was recently out of work bc he could no longer randomly kill Native Americans. It wasn't really PC as much as accurate of the population at the time and indicative of the life many men lived on the fringe of a post war society. (Further made interesting by Goodbye and Sam's friendship since they fought on opposing sides)
If I wanted a movie full of pasty white guys I'd watch every single Hallmark film on the Hallmark Channel. You could try that.
I agree with Sparky48.
I am not fond of PC, I think it's stupid and for pu**ies. 'Specially because of this kind of movies. I mean, yeah, now it's common to have diverse actors in some modern looking film, regardless the time, subject and all. So what? A person different from you can be your boss, neighbor, friend, etc. But, a black, Mexican, Chinese in Wild West? What if someone makes a movie about a black person, being aristocracy around the time of slavery? Being a commandeer of the squadron in war of North and South? A-a. I don't think so. And so, movie may be fun, but what it suggest is utterly anachronistic.

And if you think their weren't Mexicans in the south west, you're insane.
It's a movie. You watch a movie like this so you can pretend to be someone else for a couple hours. If it upsets you, you can always not watch it. I like to pretend I'm Chris Pratt. I also pretend I'm Denzel Washington. It's just pretend.
I'm irritated that the Comanche character speaks Tlingit some of the time. But somehow I can manage to watch the movie and enjoy it for what it is. It's just a shoot-em-up like many a western.
We'll all be OK.
Let's say I believe there were Mexican at the south, if only due to the wasr between US and Mexico. Rememeber Alamo? But this is different. Otherwise, it's all streaming pile of dogs***. Would that Mexicac ride along the white folks like in MS? I don't think so. Sorry, but I don't buy the West diversity. Not a chance.
share<sarcasm> I agree. All Mexicacs hate white people. The people of Mexicac hate the area that they were born in. That's in Americac.
I believe that Mexicacs fly on butterfly wings. I also know that there are no towns in the old west that are named after Mexicac names. Just like there isn't a town named Tahelequah in Oklahoma. That one isn't a Cherokee name. It's named after a proud white sovereign citizen by the name of Tah Elequah. He was born in America from Americans that never came here on a boat. He was white as the driven snow and he always made sure that the filthy Mexicans who have never been friends with white people and are garbage people would never be allowed in his town.
FYI, we're all people. I even know a black person! Once I met a dude that I worked with for nearly a decade who happened to be from Tijuana! Shocking!</sarcasm>
Sometimes people come from different places. We're all OK. You're OK. I'm sure if we met, we'd be good friends. It's a movie. Sometimes people are different. Sometime's we're the same.
We're all good. Everyone is good.
You should see Anthony Cumia's comments on it.
shareIt lacks a homosexual and a Jewish guy to fully be PC.
shareWhat this film lacks is a homosexual and a Jewish guy; then you'd have it all.
shareHollywood is diverse and too politically correct to care about historical accuracy, generally speaking.
