A lot more good guys probably would have been killed, or worse done nothing, without the Magnificent Seven there to train them.

I think a lot of good guys died, but they died protecting their land and families, they had something to gain in the end. The M7 guys died helping them (they were getting paid but I doubt it was much), and then would have left in the end had they lived (as the surviving members did). Emma's speech at the end said the same thing.

I understand the sentiment here but frankly the film is called "The Magnificent Seven". Not "The Story of Some Magnificent Townsfolk Who Finally Make a Stand Against Oppression".

Sure, arguably, a passing shot of additional grave markers would have been nice, but its absence certainly does not detract much from the film IMO, if at all.

This film was fun and reasonably enjoyable overall, but for me does not truly stand up to the original classic at all.

I'm guessing the townspeople who died in the showdown were buried within the settlement gates like Emma's husband was, so they weren't shown beside the four leads. From what I remember, the Magnificent Seven members were buried a short distance away from the gates, maybe to symbolize that they were outsiders both in terms of hometowns and relationships to the law. It makes their noble deed even more moving.
