Helen Mirren is always great, but...

Doing the arithmetic as I watched the movie (which I cannot help but doing, no matter how good the movie is), her character is 81 when the story begins.

No way Ms Mirren looks that old. The movie might have been more poignant if an actress of that age were in the part.

By the way, does anyone know where Adele's necklace is today?

Her accent is ludicrous.

Mirren doesn't the money to appear in pseudo-worthy schmuck like this.

Oy vey, I make a glitsh! I meant to say that the successful millionairess-actress doesn't NEED the money to appear in this sentimental cartoon.

This is a BBC Films production. You do not get a lot of money to appear in their movies.

Its that man again!!

Yoy Yoy Yoy as my grandmother would say. I too was upset about the accent, German ( and certain other European languages ) have no "th" or "w" sounds in their language, and so they are generally pronounced "d" or "zer" for the th, and "ver" for the w by people who learn englsh as an adult. neither of my grandparents ever pronounced my name properly as it begins with W. They were very lucky to survive the war and start a new life in a safe country. Helen's character reminded me so much of my grandmother (if only she'd got that accent right!) she was so straight and strong, I was pretty shaken up by the end :(.

No Helen Mirren does not look that old at all, and she has had very subtle face work done too, so looks even less old! They did a good job with her hair and clothes, though.

The arithmetics are all over the place in the film, not only the age she should project was wrong, in one of the trials one person said that from 1976 to 1998 ( time where the film takes place ) there's a 38 years gap.
