Ryan and Helen played well off each other, and convincingly so. I wonder if anyone who knew the characters in real life, if they could attest to the portrayal of their real life counterparts.
I thought Tatiana Maslany was wonderful in this film as the younger Maria... I hope to see this little film get some award recognition in the upcoming awards season.
I agree with you. I thought the casting was excellent, the acting impeccable, and I felt the same about Tatiana Maslany. The whole thing was beautifully shot and directed, too, and the Nazis' treatment of the Altmann family was shot through with tension. I was holding my breath when Maria and her husband were making their escape, despite knowing that they would get away - well done!
An extraordinary story and an excellent film. Well worth seeing.
