Yet another Ryan Reynolds flop
Lmao
shareToo bad because this was awesome!
shareWoman in Gold was not a flop. It stayed in the theaters forever . It was a good movie
shareCall me cheesy, but this movie in my mind is not a 'flop' in the non-financial sense. It told an important story of the world history. I didn't know about the significance of Gustav Klimt and Austria during WW2 until I saw this movie. I used to look past Klimt's paintings as ubiquitously reprinted works hanging everywhere. This movie enriched many minds and I thought Ryan Reynolds was pretty decent in this movie. In that sense, I thought this movie was a success.
shareBudget 11 million. Made 34 million. And a brilliant movie. Facts. They can be your friend.

Budget of 11 million and made over 50 million worldwide...
shareMay not have been a flop but I couldn't get past the half hour mark. Typical Old Country regal lady, uneasy/friendly relationship with younger character and just uninteresting subject matter. I found myself not caring if Mirren got what she wanted or not. Certainly the role was not a stretch for an actor of Mirren's calibre, talent, and status. Before I switched off, I was thinking "why bother?"
shareI agree. I was tempted to turn it off multiple times. A rather dull character study IMHO.

Quite frankly, I don't care for the tone of your post. Insulting someone's intelligence because they don't share your opinion on a movie reflects poorly on your personality.

But he is not dismissing the real story, he is dismissing the movie. This is something that critics do all the time and is our right too.
Look, you may disagree with them, but you cannot deny them an opinion on this film.
I personally find this statement sums up my feelings on the movie: "Woman in Gold benefits from its talented leads, but strong work from Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds isn't enough to overpower a disappointingly dull treatment of a fascinating true story."
If you feel differently, fair enough.
Actually, this movie was successful during its run in the theater; 55 million worldwide and already 3 million in DVD/BluRay.
shareThe film had a profitable domestic run since the production budget was only 11 million and made 33 million so I would see it as a success.
shareWell, 60 million, I think it is currently, on an 11 million budget, about 49 million earned, minus marketing, which is usually not counted in the budget. I've read that the rule of thumb is half the budget of the movie, but this is a relatively low budget, and 5 million feels too low. Average marketing of a movie is 34 million, by the way.
And, in comparison, The Kings Speech had a budget of 15 million, earned 400 million. Woman in Gold is absolutely not a big fat success, it earned back it's budget, including marketing. By how much, I dare not wager, but I doubt anyone are dancing the dance of joy over those numbers.
you're an idiot.
