Why are posters so cynical?

Has the world become such a rotten place that everyone attributes dark, ulterior motives to everyone? Are there no people who think there are decent people out there, perhaps like themselves...and NOT self-loathing yutzes?

The unintended self-reflections in many of the posts here is really sad.

Because this is the real world. If you want to convince yourself that someone had idealistic reasons for doing something, that's what Hollywood biopics are there for. It's fiction.

Somehow, I just don't find you too human. I'm sorry I share the planet with the likes of you.

You should be thankful that there are realists like me in the world. What happens when you put your trust in fantasists who manipulate you through emotion and tell you exactly what you want to hear? The Nazis based their entire system of oppression through this process. Hollywood has perfected the art for years and you are the result, desperate to believe this woman's motivations had nothing to do with the bottom line.

Interesting comment (after a review) from someone who knew Maria Altmann:

I lived with Maria Altmann for almost four years up until her death in 2011. I can tell you with absolute certainty that it was NOT about the money! She sold the paintings because her legal bills were in the tens of millions of dollars. She never spent a dime of that money on herself; NOT A SINGLE DIME! She insisted on wearing clothes that were over 40 years old and being driven around in her 20 year old, beat up Ford Taurus with faded paint that we nicknamed the "Klimt-mobile".

So interesting to read this about her. Thank you!

Anti-semitism is alive and well.

I blame stunted emotional growth on the part of the people that are happy to think the worst of anyone's motives or intentions.

I blame it all on Ricky Gervais wrote that episode of "Extras" with Kate Winslett.
