For a woman who suffered great injustices and went to the trouble of hiring a lawyer, she sure seemed to give up easily on something that was supposedly very dear to her.

Did you find that?

i put it down to her feeling tired and maybe being a bit confused about how worth it it was to prove her principle

^This, and it was hard for her to go back to Austria in the first place. She did not have the strength to stay there in a prolonged fight.

Yes that really bothered me as well - made no sense at all (she reacted that way several times) and weakened the intensity and the whole point of the movie
