Did anyone else "moisten up" ...

... or start bawling when the Supreme Court gave their decision very near the end?

I know I definitely had to rub my eyes in a "oh I'm not going to cry really honestly I'm not carry on" type way hahahahaha

I'm not interested in any inaccuracies in the history of what actually happened, really, so don't bother. I was just taken along by the whole thing, true or not.

Helen Mirren was awesome in this, as she often is ....

Apologies BetterLikeThis - yes the tribunal, not the Supreme Court, when they said >spoiler< "our decision is to return the paintings ...."

I did tear up then.

The last "walkthrough" bit was very moving, but as someone else has said on here it was very slightly reminiscent of Titanic.

I also started to choke up when her Dad (or was it her Uncle) was saying goodbye to her & told her to speak English from then on .... When she walked out, his reaction was really moving.

I did love the film, by the way :-)

Yes that bit started me tearing up but it was when Maria was saying goodbye to her parents as they and us both realise that Maria's parents were very unlikely to survive the war as her father was already in poor health and if we hadn't got news that he had died would have certainly died in a concentration camp a) for allowing Fritz and Maria to escape and b) because he and his family were no longer useful because the Nazis had asset-stripped their apartment taking amongst other things the paintings and jewellery. And although it is not clearly stated I would assume the same could be said for Maria's mother. That it was when this film got me. Extraordinary film!
