By sheer coincidence...

When a movie seems to have at least a couple of ingredients that appeal to me, my preference is to learn as little else as possible about it before seeing it, and I rarely see films when they first hit the theaters. So... Cate and Rooney were all I needed to put this on my list. I knew nothing else about it. So I borrowed it and watched it today on my Christmas day off.
So (minor spoiler alert), there it was, set right around Christmas, of 1952, with references to how the President-elect was celebrating the holiday, and a song by Eddie Fisher, whose real daughter Carrie is at this moment in 2016 being treated in hospital for a major health crisis. Just a little weird.
