I was trying to buy it on DVD but it seems to only be sold on Blu-Ray? Was it just not that popular are DVDs becoming obsolete like VHS? I'm getting really tired of reformatting my movie library.

I'm getting it from Netflix on regular dvd.it's being released on july 18th I believe.....however when it initially came out on july 22 it was only on Blu-ray.
I just rented from redbox on DVD.
I just rented it from Netflix on regular dvd---August 20th. Not available before then.
shareI was about to post the same thing, Bizarrely enough, people can rent the DVD from Netflix but on Amazon.com, you can only find the Blu-Ray and the rental exclusive DVD but not the standard DVD. DVDs are not obsolete yet and hopefully not for awhile because Blu-Rays are more expensive and while I do like Blu-Rays I like DVDs much more.

That would depend upon your geographic location and/or DVD region wouldn't it? In Australia, Region 4 DVD, Region B Bluray Disc, this title was everywhere when it was released. The title was available digitally through various streaming services as well.
