How is this actually a horror?

Seriously? Is this really considered as horror genre by you?
This is some kind of drama/thriller.

It's a pretty straightforward drama and tense thriller until the last 15 minutes, where the horror takes over.

Since when is shooting someone with a gun a horror?
So basically every film that has a shooting in it is a horror film?

reply

alright, i'm convinced you're retarded, the horror started from the beginning with killing the kayoti, then the cult thing

reply

Thriller not horror

While I'd probably call it a thriller/drama like the poster above, I can see why some people would consider it a horror or a horror-thriller.

I think that the element of the cult that has infiltrated LA and led to the mass killings of a huge number of people could bring it into horror territory. It isn't just the element of a gun being fired, or even of people dying (because both of those things are in basically every action movie). I think that people who think of it as horror are responding to the mounting feeling of dread and then the sequence with the knife being swung around and Will and Kira being hunted through the house.

Generally speaking, I feel like conversations about what is or isn't horror tend to just go around in circles with people getting more and more abrasive and not actually getting anywhere. I think that I personally would have trouble concisely explaining what makes a horror movie a horror movie. I feel like you know it when you see it.

reply

I think it is psychological horror with thriller elements.

reply

I agree, this is a real good thriller but not a horror movie.

Well, it is kind of freaky to see your old time friends killed by the crazy team of your ex-wife.

there's a highway that is curling up like smoke above her shoulder
