Ending felt familiar... SPOILERS

hey,

I liked the movie, but it did feel pretty familiar, especially the ending. Just wondering if anyone might know of any other movies with a similar 3rd act.

Simply, there is a crisis confined to one home or location, the threat is defeated and the protagonists are safe. They then realised that the incident they have experienced is actually just a small part of a wide spread event.

Did it ring any bells for anyone else?

Thanks for any help.

reply

It did for me as well. I just can't think of the other movies where this occurred at the moment.

SPOILERS obviously

10 Cloverfield Lane
The World's End (it's a comedy tho)
28 weeks later, altough it is the viewer who discovers it has become a widespread event, not the protagonists

Thanks for the suggestions ffernandogc.

The movie I'm thinking of might be 10 Cloverfield Lane... but I'm still not 100% certain.

I welcome more suggestions.

Thanks again.

I immediately thought about the '80 film with spiders invading cities and when the people in the besieged house finally manage to get out - the whole Earth is coccooned in spiders' web.

Gognitti bailed. I made like Chow Yun-Fat.

reply

Maybe not the ending but Coherence has a very similar though more mind bending premise!

reply

Yes, I think it would have been Coherence that I was thinking of.

Thanks for that.

reply

Although quite different, I too thought about Coherence a few times.

By the way, I recommend watching Coherence to everyone! One of my favourite all time movies.

It's a little similar to You're Next, with the dinner part to start with and then descending into chaos.
