Did Claire make it out okay? The movie didn't make that clear. I thought we'd see her dead in her Prius.

I went to a showing of this yesterday and Karyn Kusama, Phil Hay, and Matt Manfredi all showed up and did a Q&A session after. Someone asked about the fate of Claire and they weren't specific, but they said "it's what you think". They also said that they initially shot a scene which was supposed to appear after Will freaks out the first time and asks why everyone is being so polite and then Choi shows up. Apparently the initial script included the camera pulling back and showing what happened to Claire, but they decided that it sucked all the tension out of the movie and cut it.
sharethanks for this info. I think it turned out just right. If there were a scene with Claire dead, it would've been spoon feeding the viewer. I like how this movie assumes the audience is smart enough to figure stuff out.

I agree with both you and the OP----I would've politely bounced the hell up out of there first chance I got after hearing some creepy fckd-up s*** like that. The ex-husband should have asked the ex-wife, "Wait a damn minute--y'all invited us here along with this MF KNOWING how crazy he was from the get-go? Oh,hell naw---we're noping the fck on out of here right now!" Last week I caught a Seth Meyers show in which the actor who played the creepy dude (John Carroll Lynch) was on and doing a spoof of the creepy roles he's known for playing----here it is right here. Of course the first thing I thought of was his role in THE INVITATION,since I've only seen him in comedy and other normal roles:

at a local theater. There were three black girls sitting in front of us and when the movie ended, they got up, and one of them said, "stupid white people movie". My girlfriend and I burst out laughing, even though we are both pretty white, because they were 100% correct. That was the best part of that movie!

shareI believe it. You ever see a horror movie on the big screen? The place is always full of teenagers, who don't want to appear scared, so they constantly break the tension by laughing. When they re-released The Exorcist more than a decade ago, it was like that. Laughter the whole time.
Fear makes them uncomfortable, so they distance themselves from feeling what the movie is trying to get them to feel.

I thought the movie was mildly engaging on the whole. Not upset I watched it. It was really hard to believe though that Will would have stuck around that long, especially for his girlfriend's sake.
I wouldn't. Not after he offered to move the car for Claire and her car never left the front of the house.
