I'm liking this show

I don't wanna be a hipster but I've liked Jim Jefferies for a few years now and was nervous to see him get his own show. However, I like it! It's a mix of Louie, Seinfeld, It's Always Sunny, Eastbound and Down, and Frasier rolled up in to one. It's not too edgy (well for me, my parents are in their 60's so that's a different tune there), it's pretty heart-warming, it gives D.J. Qualls another shot at a career, it gives Jim Jefferies a chance to do something nice before he becomes another Disney voice actor (go Tim Allen and Robin Williams! j/k) and it gives me a show to watch on Thursdays besides recycled garbage. I enjoy how the story continues. I do see the formula in the show, and if somehow a writer is seeing this, here it is. Funny opening, story, funny mid-sequence, conflict, funny end-sequence, heart-warming near ending, end of a jim jefferies lol moment. Let's blend it up a little!

Why do they have to blend it up a little. Repetitive story structure is not what makes a show boring, repetitive content within an established story structure is what makes a show boring.

Funny opening, story, funny mid-sequence, conflict, funny end-sequence, heart-warming near ending, end of a jim jefferies lol moment, is what you said each episode consists off. As long as the story part is interesting and all the funny parts (or supposed to be funny parts) are funny there will not be any problems.

Maybe it feels too monotonous (I know this is my interpretation of your post) for you because you already know the bits from Jim's standup, but at the rate he is using his existing stand up material, the second season (if there is one) is going to have to be mainly original material.

The risk is that it may not be as consistently funny, but for people that know his previous work it could be more exhilarating. I mean at the moment I knew almost exactly what was going to be said and what was going to happen in episodes 1 and 4. Episodes 2 and 3 (my favorites so far), had me wondering a bit, because there were a few short standup bits within, but the majority of those episodes were not based on previous stand up stories.
