7.4 and still better than most films on the Top 250

Seriously, all this Marvel garbage and these oscar bait movies like The Imitation Game have such high ratings, with their unspectacular stories and execution.

THIS film however has a great unexpected story, a stellar performance by Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snooke, excellent direction and camerawork and is just all in all a original and ballsy movie.

Why can't this movie be on the top 250 list instead of all this corporate franchise garbage

I love time travel movies, and didn't really care for this one, because it was totally expected and predictable. When the movie starts and a guy gets his face burned off with little to no context and then they start showing Ethan Hawke, I knew right away that was him after he had his face fixed. Then shortly afterward, Jane as newJohn comes into the bar, and his face looked off. I figured right then that this character was a woman at one point, and was also likely the person who had their face burned just moments before and became Ethan Hawke. Also, when Ethan Hawke explains that the fizzle bomber has been the one they could just never catch, I knew that it was his future self because he had knowledge of his own actions from his past. The part I had wrong, was that when they didnt show the face of the guy who impregnates Jane, I assumed it was the Ethan Hawke version of John. Only because I assumed that Jane would be like, "Hey NewJohn, you look a lot like me and it creeps me out a bit." But no, Jane was oblivious to the fact that she was getting boned by her male doppleganger.

I gave it an 8.

If this had been made within twenty years or so of when the short story was written (1959), it would have been an instant sci-fi classic, or at least a major cult film. However, taking as long as it did to make it to the screen, the notion of time-travel in science-fiction stories--and the paradoxes inherent in them, too--have become well-known to fans of the genre...so well-known that I'd bet the majority of the audience who watched this film predicted the big twist(s) that were coming very soon after the film began.

That being said, it was still an imaginative and well-made film and I'd recommend it. It's just not as mind-blowing as it thinks it probably is.
