Thats the part i dont understand, when John is sent to the bar mission, and he sees Jane get in, then she sits, and then she starts with the history, how can he not remember any of this, or DOES he know that the mission is to reclute herself? And then when Jane goes back, and meet her younger self at the university?

When John burns his face and sees Barkeep come closer to him, he understood what happened, and realized that sometime in the future, he has to come back to this moment to help his old self.
